Adjunct Music Instructor (Fall 2017)

Norwalk Community College is looking for an adjunct instructor to teach Music 157: Jazz/Rock Ensemble in the Fall 2017 semester. This is a one-credit course that meets on Thursdays from 4:20pm-5:20pm. The semester dates are 8/29/2017 - 12/18/2017. The Adjunct is responsible for selecting repertoire and creating arrangements/parts for students with a range of skills on various instruments.
Degree Required: Master's degree or equivalent in related field of the academic department in which you are applying to. Candidates currently enrolled in a Master's degree program will be considered. Candidates that have equivalent experience to the Master's degree are encouraged to put in writing how their experience has prepared them for this position.
Job Duties: Under the supervision of the chairperson of the department, the Adjunct Instructor must demonstrate the ability to respond to and work with diverse and varied student populations; support the mission of Norwalk Community College; and meet all teaching expectations, as outlined by the department chair.
* Teaching experience and related work experience within Jazz/Rock ensembles.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrate knowledge of the current methods and practices for teaching college-level courses.
* Qualifications may also include community college experience, knowledge of assessment techniques, computer literacy/technological innovation in teaching, and the use of Blackboard class management system.
Salary: $1546 per contact/credit hour
